New Orleans EMS Ambulance Stolen with Crew, Patient Inside

A woman is accused of stealing a New Orleans EMS ambulance while the crew and a patient were inside the back of the ambulance, the agency said.

Two EMTs were treating a patient for dizziness at Ozanam Inn on Thursday when a woman jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off, according to WVUE.

The EMTs alerted police to the location of the stolen ambulance. The woman eventually stopped, and another EMS vehicle blocked the ambulance until police arrived, the station reported.

Medics removed the woman from the ambulance and police placed her under arrested, WVUE reported.

“There were no reports of injuries,” New Orleans EMS wrote on Facebook. “The stolen ambulance and another EMS vehicle sustained damage. The patient was transferred to another ambulance for transport and the subject was taken into NOPD custody. Thank you to our partners at the New Orleans Police Department for their quick response and assistance.”
