The City of Pelham rolled out three new ambulances at the start of 2025 and already they have dramatically reduced response times.
In just 22 days of operation since January 1, these state-of-the-art vehicles have helped the department reduce response times on 75 emergency calls from 30 minutes to just 15 minutes, WVTM reports.
The Pelham Fire Department’s goal is to have an ambulance on the scene within 15 minutes in 90% of calls, Fire Chief Mike Reid told the station. Prior to launching its ambulances, Pelham relied on mutual aid partners.
In addition to increased response times, the new ambulances also put new technologies at the scene such as ultrasounds and ventilators.
