NC Shooting Sends 2-Year-Old Toddler to the Hospital

The Herald-Sun, Durham, N.C.

Feb. 3—The Durham Police Department is investigating a shooting in northern Durham that sent a 2-year-old child to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Officers responded at 3:43 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Wiggins Street in the Braggtown community, where they found the child.

Emergency Medical Services took the child to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a news release.

Police did not release the toddler’s gender, specify where the shooting happened or provide any other information. CBS17 reported it happened in the Oxford Manor Apartments.

The Durham Police Department has not updated the shooting data on its website since the week of Jan. 18, when nine people had been shot in the city this year, two of them fatally.

At that time, one of those shot was 5 years old or under and another of those shot was between 6 and 15 years old, the data showed.
