After years of complaints about slow emergency medical response times, Monroe County residents will soon see faster ambulance service.
For the past five years, one ambulance has served the nearly 20,000 residents of Monroe County, leading to dangerously long wait times. In some cases, response times stretched to an hour, forcing people to drive themselves to the hospital, WKRG reports.
To fix the problem, the county has entered an agreement with a new ambulance provider. The partnership with Enterprise Rescue, a nonprofit company, will bring four ambulances providing advanced life support to Monroe County, ensuring round-the-clock service.
