MN Paramedics, EMTs Face Renewed Risks of Violent Encounters

A report says that paramedics and EMTs in Hennepin County, Minnesota, are now threatened and assaulted nearly every day.

KTSP reports that Hennepin Healthcare data indicates that there have been 241 threats and assaults against paramedics and EMTs so far this year compared to 121 for all of 2023.

Martin Scheerer, EMS chief at Hennepin Healthcare, told reporters that an increase in mental health and drug addiction cases and working at crime scenes have played a part.
