After being closed more than seven years ago, Milwaukee’s Fire Station 31 on the city’s south side has reopened. The station is located at Eighth and Hays.
In addition, Fire Station 28 at 30th and Saint Paul celebrated the launch of a new paramedic unit, designed to address the city’s increasing demand for emergency medical services.
Fire Chief Aaron Lipski told WISN the additional city funds to boost services is welcome given the increasing demands on EMS from incidents such as trauma from gun violence, reckless driving accidents, and overdoses.
On its first day of operation, the new paramedic unit in Fire Station 28 responded to 13 calls
Station 31’s reopening comes less than a year after a devastating neighborhood fire that killed a resident and resulted in injuries to a firefighter.
