Mexican Paramedic Beaten, Attacked with Bleach

A Mexican paramedic volunteering with the Red Cross was reportedly attacked and doused with bleach Wednesday by two people accusing the man of spreading coronavirus.

The man, identified in news reports as Mario Alberto Montiel Flores, was forced to his knees and beaten by two men who then splashed him with the cleaning solution.

The attacked happened in Tlapa de Comonfort, Guerrero, about 212 miles south of Mexico City.

Authorities said Flores is recovering and the bleach did not harm any internal organs. Flores was wearing goggles at the time of the attack.

The prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.
