When first responders heed the call, time is of the essence. When it comes to their training, the same urgency must apply.
With the MediCredits app, firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs can take control of their recertification training time – anytime, anywhere, right on their smartphones.
MediCredits is a CAPCE accredited EMS continuing education app designed to allow users to take the classroom with them, and earn continuing eduction units (CEUs) at their own pace. The app is free to download, then users can browse a wide array of courses such as Hemorrhage Control (0.5), Street Drugs (1.0), Field Triage (.05), Clan Labs & Marijuana Grow Houses (1.0), and Special Healthcare Needs (1.0), designed to meet the needs of today’s emergencies.
Users can view each course overview for free, then download, study, review, and take their exams right on their smartphones. Results are reported directly to the CAPCE, in real-time.
The MediCredits app was developed by Matthew D. Noyes and Neil Myers, career firefighters/EMT’s in Massachusetts.
“We developed MediCredits because we realized our department preferred reading and learning on their phones,” said Noyes. While MediCredits is ideal for individual first responders, Noyes and Myers took their concept one step further by creating a Group Discount Program, so entire departments can benefit from the training while saving money – and time.
Departments can pre-purchase a bulk number of courses at a discounted rate, then individual members can redeem them as needed. Select the same course for the entire team, or let each member choose their own. Either way, the discount program saves two valuable resources – time and money. But more importantly, it gives back to those give so much to their communities.
“We only have so many”¨training nights a year. MediCredits allows us to get our CEUs out of the way, so that we can focus training nights on other topics,” Chief Ryan Brown, Lee Fire & EMS in Massachusetts.
