LOS ANGELES (AP) – Authorities say a pedestrian who walked during a red light was hit and gravely injured by a Los Angeles light rail train.

Police say the man failed to see the southbound Metro Blue Line train in the Watts area and was hit Sunday afternoon.

Paramedics took the man, whose name has not been released, to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was listed in grave condition Sunday night.

Police Sgt. Jerome Calhoun tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/xzWC0O) that the man disregarded a red light, traffic arm barriers and many other vehicles and pedestrians that had stopped.
