Man Charged with Assaulting HI Paramedic, EMT

An Oahu man is charged with assaulting two emergency medical service (EMS) workers on New Year’s Eve.

Arsenio Vargas, 47, faces two counts of assault in the second degree for the alleged assault of an EMT and a paramedic, KHON 2 reports.

Vargas was being treated by the EMS workers when he became agitated; court documents charge that one medic was punched the other kicked during the incident.

Vargas has pleaded not guilty to the assault charges. He remains in custody with bail set at $11,000.
