KY EMS Provider, Patient Killed in Collision with Truck

An EMS provider driving an ambulance and a patient were killed Monday in a collision with a truck, according to news reports and the county ambulance agency.

Kentucky State Police said the crash happened around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Lexington Road and Old Lexington Road in Garrard County when the truck made a left turn in front of the Somerset-Pulaski County Ambulance.

Chastian McWhorter, 26, who was driving the ambulance, and Robert Caudill, 75, the patient, were declared dead at the scene by the Garrard County coroner.

Another passenger in the ambulance was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as one of our ambulances has been involved in a major accident in Garrard County,” Somerset-Pulaski County EMS said in a Facebook post.
