CHELMSFORD, Mass. — ZOLL Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions, announced recently that its Broomfield, Colorado subsidiary has completed the purchase of the assets of Road Safety International, Inc., of Thousand Oaks, California. Road Safety’s SafeForce Driving System for emergency vehicles will be managed and marketed by ZOLL’s Data Management Group based in Broomfield.
The SafeForce Driving System combines emergency vehicle driver monitoring with real-time feedback to help improve the safety level of vehicle operations for EMS personnel, onboard patients, and the public-at-large. The system also provides data analysis and driver performance reporting, resulting in measurable reductions in operating and maintenance costs for the vehicles. Road Safety has over 200 customers with the system installed in over 4,000 public safety vehicles nationwide including fire and EMS fleets.
“Given the extensive brand recognition the name “Road Safety” has earned among customers, we will refer to the product now as “RescueNet Road Safety” as we integrate the system into our existing RescueNet software portfolio. We believe it will provide critical added value to our customers using our other solutions,” said David Brown, President, ZOLL Broomfield.
“We are committed to providing emergency response solutions that help customers improve operations and make better decisions based on immediate access to critical data. The Road Safety system fits perfectly with our vision, presenting real-time data that both saves lives and reduces costs,” Brown added.
The Road Safety System monitors and records unsafe vehicle operating parameters such as speeding and high vehicle g-forces caused by rapid accelerations, hard decelerations, and high speed turns. The system provides an audible warning as the driver approaches an unsafe condition, allowing sufficient time to take corrective action before a crash might occur. The system also creates database reporting, ranking driver performance and identifying areas for improvement.
