Woman Killed, Four Hurt When Car Slams into NY Ambulance

A woman was killed and four others were hurt after a car slammed into a Richmond University Medical Center ambulance on Friday, according to reports.

CBS 2 New York the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. at Jewett and Main avenues in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island.

The ambulance was transporting a woman who had been hit by a car earlier to the hospital. Police told the station a Dodge Charger slammed into the ambulance in the intersection, causing the ambulance to overturn.

Three EMS providers and the driver behind the wheel of the Charger suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
