A former treasurer of the Hecktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps was arraigned Tuesday on theft and forgery charges after she skimmed more than $2,500 from corps funds, police said.
Colonial Regional police said Cheryl Oblick, of the 500 block of Georgetown Road, used 18 ambulance corps checks to pay personal bills between May 2006 and February 2007. Police also accused her of forging signatures on seven other checks.
“On behalf of the corps, there is a lot of disappointment,” said Hecktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Assistant Capt. Tim Sullivan.
Sullivan said Oblick was placed on indefinite suspension after the corps administration found out about the police investigation.
