The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) is addressing two separate incidents involving stolen ambulances.

In the first incident, a person stole Medic 28 from Tri-Star Summit Hospital in Hermitage and drove it into Wilson County before fleeing back into Davidson County. Multiple law enforcement officers pursued the individual, and officers took decisive measures to stop the ambulance.

The NFD thanks the Metro Nashville Police Department and the Mount Juliet Police Department for their work in apprehending the suspect, who is now in custody.

In a separate incident, Medic 29 was responding to a medical call when someone drove off in the ambulance and collided with Engine 15, which was also on the same medical call.

Both incidents are under investigation, and no NFD personnel were injured.

The NFD takes these incidents seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety of its personnel and the public. The department is working closely with law enforcement to investigate these incidents and take appropriate action.

“We are grateful for the quick response and collaboration of law enforcement in both incidents,” said Chief William Swann. “The safety of our personnel and the public is our top priority.”
