Three VA EMS Providers Recovering after Serious Ambulance Crash

The three Bassett Rescue Squad EMS volunteers are on the road to recovery after an ambulance crash that saw one of them airlifted to the hospital, WBDJ reported.

Sunday’s crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.

The squad is now down to three ambulances after the crash. Neighboring squads have stepped up to help answer calls in the meantime, according to the report.

“It makes us feel better that they are recovering, because it could have been a lot worse,” said Bassett Rescue Squad Firefighter-Paramedic Jesse McGrady. “We are very thankful to our family here at the station and in the community. The community has shown a lot of support for us during this time. It’s good to know that there’s always someone there with your back.”

The squad eventually plans to buy a new ambulance.
