Three Students, One Acadian Ambulance Employee Suffer Minor Injuries After School Bus Crash

Gabby Jimenez – The Advocate, Baton Rouge, La.

Mar. 27—Three students and an Acadian Ambulance employee sustained minor injuries Wednesday when an ambulance collided with a West Baton Rouge Parish Schools bus, the district said in a statement.

Around 7:15 a.m., the ambulance and a school bus with 40 students were involved in a crash at the intersection of Court and 14th streets, the school district said.

Three students and an ambulance employee were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No other students complained of any injuries, and the drivers were not injured, the school district said.

The children on the bus were students of Cohn Elementary and Port Allen Elementary. Some parents picked up their children at the scene, and the rest were transferred to another bus and transported to their schools.

No patients were in the ambulance, and paramedics helped students on the bus immediately after the accident, the school district said.

The driver of the bus is an employee of DS Bus, a company that the school district contracts for bus transportation, the school district said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
