Three people were hurt when a UPMC Life Team EMS ambulance was involved in a crash in Adams County, Pennsylvania, police told local media outlets.

The ambulance was returning back from the hospital with no patient inside when it was struck around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday morning in Reading Township, the Evening Sun reported.

Police said the crash occurred when a driver swerved to avoid hitting vehicles stopped at the intersection and slammed nearly head-on with the ambulance.
