Patient Jumps Out of NY Ambulance, Causes Flood at Hospital after Pulling Fire Alarm

A man is accused of flooding several floors of a hospital after jumping out of an ambulance and pulling the fire alarm, WENY reports.

It happened Sunday at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira.

The Elmira Police Department said officers responded to the hospital at the request of Erway Ambulance. The ambulance crew told police a patient they were transporting to the hospital hopped out of the ambulance and ran into the building.

Police say the man was hiding from officers and hospital staff and later pulled the fire alarm. The patient was later taken into custody on the hospital’s roof. The man, who’s identity was not released, to a different hospital for treatment and released.

Charges against the man are pending.

Arnot Health said hospital staff moved residents areas to areas not impacted by water damage.
