A man was killed by a car after jumping out of an ambulance in Tennessee Sunday, according to a report.

Chattanooga Police told WDEF the ambulance was taking James Moore to the hospital when he “became combative.”

The person driving the ambulance pulled over on the shoulder of I-24 in an attempt to calm down the patient and secure him better when he jumped from the ambulance.

Moore jumped over the concrete median of the highway and ran across the westbound lanes before a car hit him, police said.

A truck then crashed into the car that hit Moore. Moore later died from his injuries, police said.
