MD Man Accused of Attacking EMS Providers, Carjacking Ambulance

A Maryland man is facing charges after police say he attacked private EMS providers and then lead them on a 20-mile chase.

Montgomery County police say Nicholas Albano was being transported in the ambulance around 2:40 a.m. on Friday when he attacked one of the providers, according to NBC Washington. When the EMS provider driving the ambulance got up to help his coworker, the 31-year-old Albano jumped into the driver’s seat, police said.

Police said Albano then put one of the EMS providers in a headlock and repeatedly punched them. The providers ran out of the ambulance and Albano took off.

Police chased the ambulance along several highways before Albano eventually surrendered. He’s been charged with carjacking, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
