Man Charged with Assaulting Two TX Paramedics, Firing Shots Inside Ambulance

According to a report from BigCountryHomePage, Michael Gaylon McMillan of Waxahachie has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant after being accused of firing a gun inside an Abilene, Texas, ambulance and assaulting two paramedics.

Abilene police said McMillan arrived at a home on the 2400 block of Regent Drive at around 9 a.m. Thursday morning and said he was there to do floor work. Officers were called and arrived, surmised he had a medical issue, and placed him in an ambulance for transport to the hospital.

En route, McMillan pulled a gun out of his jacket and pointed it at two paramedics, initiating a struggle, and two shots were fired. McMillan also pulled out and struck one of the paramedics with the butt of a pocket knife.

Both paramedics were evaluated at the hospital and have been released with minor injuries.

At a news conference regarding the incident Thursday, police said they did not search McMillan because he didn’t seem to pose a danger.
