Knox County (KY) Ambulance Service Unveils New Ambulance

According to a report from Times-Tribune, in the wake of the the Knox County Fiscal Court acknowledging a previously signed proclamation dubbing May 16-22 EMS Week, the Knox County Ambulance Service recently welcomed a new ambulance painted in navy and gold with panther decals in honor of the county’s school system.

Knox County Ambulance Service’s Gerald Baker said the box of the new ambulance was refurbished and taken from an ambulance previously used by the department, which he believed was purchased in 2005. Baker also said the refurbishment saved the town $45,000, making it practically a brand-new truck.

The Knox County-themed ambulance is the first of three new ambulances that will have displays of local school systems. In the future, the ambulance service will painted in Barbourville City colors and logos. A similar Lynn Camp-themed ambulance is in the works as well.

Baker said the ambulance service hopes to receive the Lynn Camp ambulance before October, and the Barbourville vehicle by early 2022. There were talks of having an ambulance display the Corbin school system, too.

The three school-themed ambulances will be in regular rotations once they arrive to the ambulance service. Baker said that whenever a local high school hosts a particular sporting event, the ambulance honoring that school will be there.
