Tractor-trailer hits ambulance during response

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — News4JAX reports that two Jacksonville Fire rescue paramedics were hospitalized after their ambulance was struck by a tractor-trailer and overturned.

The collision happened on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road.

A Jacksonville Fire-Rescue captain said the ambulance was on an emergency run with its lights and siren activated at approximately 10:00 a.m. when a big rig entered the intersection and struck the ambulance

The fire department confirmed that the paramedics were okay but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
