According to a report from WPDE, the 47-year-old emergency medical technician who was behind the wheel of a Horry County, South Carolina, ambulance has been cited after a crash that caused the vehicle to flip on its side and injured three.
Myrtle Beach Police officials said the ambulance was heading north on Robert Grissom Parkway and tried to cross Mr. Joe White Avenue when a second car heading west on Mr. Joe White Avenue approached.
Police said cameras showed the ambulance was running its lights and sirens when it went through a red light, causing the approaching car to hit the rear passenger side of the ambulance.
The crash caused the ambulance to hit a curb and roll onto its side, then hit a light pole and street sign. The passenger in the ambulance and the driver of the second car suffered injuries.
Officials said the ambulance was going 25 miles-per-hour (mph) in a 45 mph zone at the time of the incident.
The ambulance was not transporting any patients at the time.
