EMT Killed in Illinois Ambulance Accident

An EMT from Clark County, Illinois was killed Saturday night when a pickup track slammed into their ambulance, which was transporting a patient at the time, WTHI reported.

The pickup truck slammed into the ambulance from a side street. The EMT in the back, Richard Poorman, and the patient were thrown from the vehicle, the TV station reported. Poorman, 52, from West Union, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. MyWabashValley.com reported that the patient was seriously injured.

The News Gazette said police reported the driver of the pickup, Dottie Ann Bright, failed to stop at an intersection. Her passenger was also killed in the crash.

Both vehicles ended up in ditches after the ambulance overturned, the newspaper reported.
