EMS workers’ paychecks bounce

RICHMOND, Va. — Emergency services workers in Goochland County say they have had occasional problems with the company the Board of Supervisors hired to handle its paid rescue staff four years ago.

But the problems were nothing like last month, when Lifeline Ambulance Service of Christiansburg issued bad payroll checks to most of its 18 Goochland employees, causing workers to bounce checks for their mortgages and other bills and resulting in overdrafts on their personal bank accounts.
