Drunks Take Syracuse Ambulance on Joyride

Syracuse, NY – City police say two men who had been drinking jumped into an ambulance outside Upstate University Hospital and and went for a joyride early this morning.

Brandon Ray, 21, of College Park, Md., drove the Amber Ambulance at a high rate of speed on Walnut Avenue near Syracuse University, Syracuse police Sgt. Tom Connellan said.

Kevin Mauro, 21, of Scarsdale, was in the passenger’s seat, police said.

Ray and Mauro parked the ambulance on Walnut Avenue and got out of the vehicle, Connellan said. But then they got back in and drove to Harrison Street, where they abandoned the ambulance, valued at $80,000, police said.
