Driver Charged after Crashing into Medic (NC) Ambulance

Two paramedics were among several hurt after a driver crashed their ambulance working at a separate collision in Charlotte, according to WCNC.

The two paramedics have since been released from the hospital. The driver who crashed into the ambulance will be facing charges.

Medic responded to the original crash at North Tryon Street and West Mallard Creek Church Road around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.

While at the scene, a driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the rig.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Brian Ogbonna will be charged with felony failure to move over and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The patient who was being treated by paramedics before the crash was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A person in the vehicle that crashed into the ambulance was also seriously hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The report did not say if drugs or alcohol was a factor.

Initial reports previously said five people were hurt.
