Arkansas Woman Complains About Slow Ambulance Response

POPE COUNTY (KATV) – A Pope County woman called off an ambulance after waiting longer than expected for authorities to respond to her father’s heart attack.

On Saturday, at 2 p.m., Dana Wewer’s 82-year-old father started experiencing chest pains. Because Dana’s mother doesn’t drive and her father has dementia, Dana’s mother called Pope County 911.

“We don’t need the sirens,” said Dana’s mother in a 911 call from Saturday afternoon.

Dana said her mother made the request for no lights and sirens out of fear neighbors would know they were gone, leaving their home vulnerable to robbery.

“It’s probably not that urgent. It might be, I don’t know,” Dana’s mother said to the dispatcher in the 911 call.
