RIVERSIDE – Riverside Fire Department, Riverside Police and AMR responded to a three vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Van Buren Blvd. and Arlington Ave. According to City of Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Schellhous, a total of four patients were treated at the scene, three with minor injuries and one with major injuries. Three of the patients were transported by ground ambulance to area hospitals, the fourth was treated at the scene and released. Firefighters had to extricate one of the E.M.T.’s from the AMR ambulance. Per Police at the scene, the ambulance was traveling South on Van Buren Blvd. with lights and sirens when a Hummer collided with a white sedan then collided with the ambulance. It’s unclear what vehicle the patient with major injuries was in at the time of the collision. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
