Disturbing video from Serbia shows an ambulance knocking down an elderly woman while the ambulance is backing up.
The Institute for Emergency Medicine in Belgrade said it is “sincerely sorry for the unfortunate event,” and has apologized to the woman’s family, according to the Serbian newspaper Blic.
The driver did not see the woman in the rearview mirror, officials with the institute said, adding the woman did not hear the ambulance and had her back to the vehicle.
The crew members got out of the ambulance and did not know the woman was under the ambulance until she called out to them, according to the report.
The woman was not hurt, officials said.
The crew will be disciplined, the Institute said, without elaborating.
