BLACKFORD COUNTY, Ind. — Four people were hurt after an ambulance responding to an emergency slammed into a truck, according to a report by WTHR-TV.
The IU Health ambulance was transporting a patient from Hartford City to IU’s Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Police say the ambulance was going southbound on the highway’s northbound lane to pass slow-moving cars when it came over a rise in the road.
The truck was ahead, turning on a side road.
[The driver] “saw the semi and it appears as if he tried to move back into the southbound lane and clipped, rear ended the trailer,” said Sheriff Jeff Sones.
The driver had to be extricated from the ambulance. The driver and the two medics inside were alert at the scene. They were taken to the hospital, along with the patient inside.
Authorities said the ambulance had its emergency lights flashing.
