Gas Grill Explosion Injures 4 on Mom’s Day

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A propane tank blast during a Mother’s Day get-together sent four people to an Albuquerque hospital Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews rushed to the scene around 2:00 p.m. Sunday where they found four people suffering from third-degree burns to their chests, arms and faces.

A fire commander said the family was using a commercial sized propane tank that didn’t fit their grill correctly.

Even though the tank was too big, investigators are still trying to determine what exactly caused the explosion.

Neighbors said they heard the terrifying explosion Sunday afternoon. One neighbor said he ran out of his house thinking it was his home that had exploded.
