LOVINGTON, Ill. – Authorities in the central Illinois village of Lovington say four people, including three children, are dead after a traffic accident.
The Decatur Herald and Review reports Monday that 27-year-old Michael Martin was driving a pickup truck when it went off the road on Saturday and crashed into a culvert. The Moultrie County coroner says Martin and three children died. All were from Lovington and pronounced dead at the scene.
The children were identified as Martin’s sons, 5-year-old Bryson Martin and 8-year-old Braxton John Giorgi-Denton, and family friend 8-year-old Dakota Wayne Hoffman.
The three children went to Lovington Grade School, where principal Kyle von Schnase called the crash a “tragedy.”
The village of about 1,200 residents is about 20 miles southeast of Decatur.
