A CareFlight helicopter hit power lines and crashed hard while responding to a deadly motor vehicle accident in Butler County early Tuesday morning, according to published reports.
All three crew members in the helicopter were taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to the Butler County Sherriff’s Office.
No patient was on the helicopter at the time of the crash.
Crews were already at the scene of U.S. 127 and Eaton Road after a person was killed and three others were hurt when two pickup truck collided.
The CareFlight helicopter was being operated by Air Methods Corp. In a statement, Air Methods said it has contacted the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration and will work with the agencies to determine what caused the crash.
“The safety of patients and crew is of the utmost importance to us,” Air Methods said in the statement. “We are grateful that no one was seriously injured in this incident.”
