ZOLL Technology for Improving CPR Quality to be showcased at EMS2016 Congress in Copenhagen

CHELMSFORD, MASS. – ZOLL® Medical Corporation, an Asahi Kasei Group Company that manufactures medical devices and related software solutions, today announced that it will display its fully integrated advanced resuscitation solutions and acute critical care solutions in Booths 12, 13, and 14 during the EMS2016 Congress 30 May—1 June in Copenhagen, Denmark.

ZOLL’s EMS Portfolio
ZOLL’s technology is uniquely capable of helping EMS customers achieve the new recommendations in the 2015 European Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Increasing the quality of CPR has been an ongoing commitment of ZOLL since 2002, when it became the first manufacturer to introduce real-time CPR feedback. Today, all ZOLL defibrillators feature Real CPR Help® audio and visual feedback on the depth and rate of chest compressions. On the X Series® Monitor/Defibrillator, Real CPR Help also indicates whether compressions are being fully released and how long the patient has been without CPR. All of this information is clearly displayed on the CPR Dashboardâ„¢. Real CPR Help is the only CPR feedback technology that, in combination with training, has been shown to impact survival to discharge, as demonstrated in published research.1,2

ZOLL’s commitment to high-quality CPR is also evident in the company’s suite of tools for optimal resuscitation response for patients. The new RapidShock®* functionality integrated in the X Series supports the rescuer in minimizing total pause time in CPR. RapidShock is the fastest rhythm analysis in the world, giving the rescuer a Shock/No Shock decision in as little as 3 seconds. ZOLL’s proprietary See-Thru CPR® technology also helps clinicians to minimize the duration of pauses in CPR by enabling them to see an organized, underlying rhythm.

The new ResQCPRâ„¢ System is a combination of two medical devices, the Cardio Pump® ACD-CPR Device and the ResQPOD® Impedance Threshold Device (ITD). The devices are used together during CPR to create an enhanced vacuum in the chest that improves blood flow to the brain and vital organs during states of low blood flow such as cardiac arrest. The two-device combination was shown in a large clinical trial to improve neurologically intact survival to hospital discharge from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest of cardiac etiology by 53% when compared to treatment with conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).3

The AutoPulse® Resuscitation System, ZOLL’s automated CPR device, delivers high-quality CPR whenever and wherever it’s needed–especially during transport of critically ill patients. Designed for Resuscitation on the Moveâ„¢, a recent study showed that the AutoPulse had a significant survival benefit when compared to manual CPR when resuscitation efforts lasted longer than 16 minutes.4 And in a meta-analysis of 12 comparative clinical trials, the AutoPulse improved the odds of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 62% when compared to manual CPR.5

ZOLL also offers a full set of data solutions specifically designed for the needs of EMS.

Symposium: “Managing the Everyday Critically Ill Patient in EMS”
ZOLL, a Silver Sponsor of EMS2016, will host a symposium from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, 31 May, in the Lumbye Auditorium at the Tivoli Hotel and Congress Center. In pre-hospital environments rescuers are confronted with a variety of patient conditions daily. Quickly deciding the appropriate treatment is critical to improving patient outcomes. Panelists who will share their experiences and strategies on how to manage the everyday critically ill patient in EMS include: Thomas Semmel, ERC ALS instructor, ERC educator, Third Chairman of the German Association of Paramedics; Richard Lyon, professor of Pre-hospital Emergency Care; and Nate Hinze, clinical educator for Airlink II, University of Colorado Health, USA, will be the featured speakers. Jerry Overton, Chair of the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, will moderate the panel.
