Digital Planet Celebrates National Volunteer Week

MECHANICSBURG, PA, April 10, 2011 “” In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 10″16, 2011) and National Volunteer Month, South Central Pennsylvania based Digital Planet announced plans to expand its community involvement activities by providing a day of work and our collective company resources to an organization chosen by our staff members. “We intend to make this a regular event where our services are donated to an organization with a demonstrated need,” stated President Rick Gurba. Gurba continues, “It’s important to support the volunteer spirit of our staff and instill that mindset in future generations.”

“I was fortunate to be influenced by and work with several individuals that instilled the volunteer and philanthropic spirit in me at a young age,” stated Gurba. He continues, “One of my goals in starting Digital Planet was to be able to give back to the community. It’s all part of being a good citizen in the community and a responsible corporation.

Annually the Digital Planet employees identify an organization to which they would like a donation made. Each staff member is encouraged to hand deliver the donation to experience the act first hand. Due to the fact that several of Digital Planet’s customers are non-profit organizations, the company makes a monetary donation and provides other resources to entities that support the disciplines represented by their non”profit customer base.
