Black Helmet Apparel Launches EMS Clothing Line

ORLANDO — When Orlando firefighter James Love launched Black Helmet Apparel in 2008, firemen across the country started buying his hand-designed T-shirts, tanks, hoodies and other gear by the thousands. Now, the team behind Black Helmet is answering the call of EMS professionals craving their own line of apparel.

That answer is System Protocols, a cutting-edge brand of casual wear and gear specifically designed for the heroes who respond to emergency calls, often alongside firefighters. After years of requests from EMTs and medics, System Protocols is bringing a new level of quality in clothing design and workmanship to EMS professionals who are proud to serve their communities.

“Firefighters and EMS professionals are two different breeds, but I respect how EMTs and medics help save lives,” said Love, a third generation firefighter who earned an associate’s degree in art before following in the firefighting footsteps of his father and grandfather. “EMS pros deserve to wear bad-ass designs that let them proudly display their commitment to serve.”

For the launch, Love has created five new designs for men with the same comfort and quality firefighters came to expect from the hottest clothing brand for firefighters. Among the newest hero-inspired designs are the “Asclepius EMS T-shirt.” The name of the symbol comes from its early and widespread association with Asclepius, the son of Apollo, who was a medical practitioner in Greek mythology. System Protocols will soon roll out quality Ts and tanks for women, as well as kid’s clothing and stickers.

“It’s rarely glamorous…not always appreciated…But when there is really an emergency, EMS personnel better know their stuff and get it right,” Love said. “You better know your System Protocols.”
