In May, Dia Gainor joined the staff of the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) as executive director.
Her new responsibilities as the association’s spokesperson include providing strategic leadership to promote and expand NASEMSO’s presence as a national leader in emergency medical services. According to a press release from NASEMSO, her major duties will include outreach, representation and business development, along with staffing NASEMSO’s EMS Data Council and Pediatric Emergency Care Council.
For the past 19 years, Gainor served as Idaho’s state EMS director. She is a past president and treasurer of NASEMSO and currently chairs its Highway Incident and Transportation Systems Committee. She was named an EMS 10 Innovator in 2009 and was the 2010 recipient of the James O. Page/JEMS Award.
She was appointed to serve on the National EMS Advisory Council to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and was selected to serve as the council’s first chair. She also chaired the Intelligent Transportation Systems Transportation Safety Advancement Group for the U.S. DOT Research and Innovative Technology Administration.
Gainor holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Services Administration and a Master’s in Public Administration. She has 12 years of experience as a paramedic and firefighter.
Recently, Gainor was presented the Idaho Distinguished Service Medal–the highest award the Idaho Military Division may bestow upon a civilian. She also received the Idaho Governor’s Challenge Coin in gratitude for her service.
