Copake (NY) Rescue Squad EMT Dies after Medical Event While On Duty

A New York EMT died after suffering a medical episode while on duty, according to colleagues and his obituary.

Steven Walsh passed away while on duty at Community Rescue on Saturday, November 16.

“To say he was a great man is an understatement,” said Peter Doty, the operations supervisor for Clausson Raught Community Rescue Squad, Inc. “Stephan was a basic EMT with us for a short three years, but quickly became my right hand man.”

Walsh served in the Air National Guard’s 105th Airlift Wing out of Newburgh, NY, from 1992 to 2001, according to his obituary. He also served as a member of the Claverack Fire Department, where he worked in fire police.

Funeral arrangements are with the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson, NY, 12534 on Sunday, November 24 , 2024, from 12 to 4 p.m.

A prayer service will be held on Monday November 25, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Dutch Reformed Church in Claverack.
