Cleveland EMT Attacked by Patient Inside Ambulance

A Cleveland emergency medical technician (EMT) was attacked by a patient inside an ambulance early Tuesday morning on the city’s east side.

The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. when Cleveland EMS Squad 41 responded to a call at East 116th Street and Shaker Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a man who was bloodied and injured. They loaded him up to transport him to University Hospitals, WKYC reports.

During the transport, the patient became agitated and began assaulting the EMT, repeatedly punching him in the head.

The driver called for police assistance. Responding personnel assisted in securing the patient with soft restraints to prevent further violence.

The patient has been charged with assault.
