Chemical Train Derails Near Ohio Town

ARCADIA, Ohio – A freight train carrying volatile chemicals has derailed about 50 miles south of Toledo, Ohio, causing a tanker fire and forcing evacuations of nearby residents. No injuries have been reported.

WTVG is reporting a huge fireball could be seen up to 15 miles away from the crash site in Hancock County, near Arcadia.

Arcadia’s fire chief tells the station about 18 tanker cars derailed and some of them were carrying ethanol. The burning cars have been separated from the rest of the train. Crews are still battling the blaze nearly five hours after the derailment early Sunday.

The station is reporting about 20 people were evacuated by dawn Sunday.
