Cassidian Communications Announces Renewal of Emergency Notification Contract by Mendocino County, California

Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company, today announced the renewal of its contract with the Mendocino County, Calif., Sheriff’s Office for hosted emergency notification services. Continuation of the agreement, originally signed in April 2009, gives county officials remote access to the fully hosted The Communicator!® NXTâ„¢ and GeoCast® Webâ„¢ solutions, which provide rapid, multi-modal communication with local residents, emergency responders and others in situations impacting public safety.

success of our emergency notification program.”

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office provides professional, responsive law enforcement services to a population of nearly 88,000 people, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Use of The Communicator! NXT and GeoCast Web notification solutions enable immediate and widespread communication during wildfires, inclement weather, missing person situations, HAZMAT incidents and other public safety events.

Remotely activated, these web-based notification solutions automatically send voice and text messages to certain lists of people such as SWAT and search and rescue teams and/or within precisely targeted map locations, quickly providing pertinent information and potentially life-saving instruction. Cassidian Communications fully manages all communication through its geographically diverse, highly secure (SSAE 16-certified) hosting facilities. Real-time reporting keeps the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office apprised of the entire notification effort, adding to officials’ situational awareness throughout any emergency’s lifecycle.

Both notification solutions are fully redundant, giving Mendocino County uninterrupted access to the company’s multiple, geographically diverse hosting facilities. This measure further ensures the operation’s communication readiness and reliability, even during events impacting different regions of the country at the same time.
