COLUMBIA, S.C. – Authorities in South Carolina say a disoriented 91-year-old man crashed his car into a family medical clinic, injuring eight people in the waiting room.
Anderson Emergency Medical Services spokesman Scott Stoller said the Chevrolet Cavalier ended up completely inside the waiting room of Williamston Family Medicine shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Williamston Police Chief Richard Inman says the driver and his wife were hurt as well.
Inman says it appears the driver had a medical problem and didn’t realize where he was after the wreck. He apparently hit the gas instead of the brake.
Officials say doctors and nurses in the clinic tended to the injured until paramedics arrived four minutes later.
