Texas lawmakers have introduced legislation to provide grants to rural emergency medical services (EMS).
The proposed state grant program would allocate up to $500,000 for new ambulances in counties with fewer than 69,000 residents, KXXV reports.
While EMS providers acknowledge the value of the grant program, many argue the funding does not address the root issue—low wages and staffing shortages.
