Rural MN EMS Services Receive Nearly $24 Million in State Aid

Minnesota recently allocated $24 million to rural emergency medical services (EMS) across the state.

WKBT took a look at how that money will effect rural ambulance services in Southeastern Minnesota, which have received nearly $1 million in state funding aimed at helping cover operational costs.

Over $900,000 was granted to rural EMS services in Southeastern Minnesota. These services often face financial challenges, relying heavily on taxpayer subsidies to make ends meet.

In Houston, $67,000 will be used to purchase two cardiac monitors.

The city of Caledonia, awarded $103,000, plans to purchase a new ambulance and conduct EMT training classes.
