Richmond, Va./Livermore, Calif. — PatientCare EMS California Chief Operating Officer Rob Lawrence was inducted as a Life Member of the Virginia Association of Governmental Emergency Medical Services Administrators (VAGEMSA). Lawrence was honored for a decade of service to the association and dedication to the profession.
VAGEMSA President Jeff Meyer said that Lawrence represented the interests of VAGEMSA well at the local, state and national level. VAGEMSA is Virginia’s premier professional association dedicated to improving emergency medical services (EMS) throughout Virginia by promoting and developing emergency medical services issues and leadership.
Lawrence was inducted as a lifetime member for his ten years as chief operating officer of the Richmond Ambulance Authority and for his years of volunteer service as a VAGEMSA board member. He represented VAGEMSA on the Virginia State EMS Workforce Development Committee, a subgroup of the Governor’s EMS Advisory Board. He also served on VAGEMSA’s Executive Board as first Vice President.
Lawrence led a multi-year project to develop the Virginia Standards of Excellence Project, a program that assisted EMS agencies in raising the bar of organizational corporate, operational, clinical and administrative governance.
During Lawrence’s ten years in leadership, the Richmond Ambulance Authority won both state and national EMS Agency of the Year awards. In 2018, Lawrence joined PatientCare Logistics Solutions, the exclusive 911 ambulance service provider for Alameda County, as chief operating officer. He oversees the organization’s daily operations and 450 local employees.
Lawrence currently serves as a board member of the American Ambulance Association and as chair of its Communications Committee. He represents the legislative interests of EMS on the national level.
