AEMT HIRING HOURLY RATE: $20.10

EMT HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19.52 – $20.10

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must be able to: drive an emergency vehicle; have excellent communications skills (in person, over the radio/telephone, and written); work varying shift schedules including day shift, night shift, hybrid shifts including weekends and holidays; perform a wide variety of duties with accuracy and speed under pressure; provide patient care to the respective certification level; follow safety protocols and perform in a safe manner; able to understand navigation equipment and tools, including maps, and be able find locations within our response area; perform calmly in emergency situations; and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Required certifications and licensure: (please attach to your application)

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic Certification

Ability to possess and maintain a South Carolina Paramedic, AEMT, or EMT Certification

BLS (AHA or ASHI)

High School Diploma or GED (College degree or transcript may be used)

ICS course certifications 100, 200, 700 and 800 (Required within 3 months of hire)

Paramedic Candidates also need:

ACLS (AHA or ASHI)

ITLS or PHTLS or TECC (preferred)

PEPP or PALS or EPC (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge must include but is not limited to, laws and regulations of US DOT, FCC, DEA and SCDHEC in regard to the practice of emergency medical services, vehicle extrication and rescue principles, patient stabilization, medical terminology, and defensive driving techniques.

EMT, AEMT, and Paramedics are responsible for providing life support care up to their certification level.  All employees are responsible for communicating appropriately, ensuring the readiness of vehicles and equipment, maintaining uniforms and stations, attending training, and following safety and medical guidelines.

Ambulance Operator – Paramedic

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is accepting applications for Ambulance Operator (AO)-Paramedics, who provide basic and advanced medical care to the ill and injured, providing patient transport services, and may operate an ambulance responding to emergency medical aid calls. We have multiple vacancies throughout the County.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

County Fire Paramedics receive full benefits and a competitive annual salary range of

$63,132.16 – $74,979.84 including built-in overtime pay.

Salary reflected includes 3% Annual Across the Board Salary Increases in February 2024**

Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to top step

The County also offers an alternative Modified Benefits Option (MBO) that provides a wage differential of $1.75 per hour above the base salary rate with modified benefits. 

The MBO annual salary range for AO Paramedics is $68,956 – $80,804 including built-in overtime pay.

Valid California Paramedic License OR Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) Certification. A copy must be attached to your application.

Respond to paramedic services requests from area departments, acknowledging the town dispatcher by radio within two minutes

Examine, screen and treat patients, coordinating any health services and follow-up care, including monitoring medication, dressing changes and checking vital signs

Observe, record and report patient conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to the physician and care team

Complete documentation and records according to department policy, ensuring all data is entered into the database accurately

Ensure vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times

11 kids injured bus crash

11 Kids Injured as School Bus Flips Onto Side in Staten Island (NY) Crash

A total of 14 individuals, including 11 children, were injured when a yellow school bus overturned in a crash in Dongan Hills Friday morning, according to authorities.
