Tactical Paramedic

This position performs emergency medical treatment to team members injured or ill persons while engaged in a tactical operation, providing the best possible treatment until the transfer to emergency medical services system. Must be capable of

reacting with speed and composure under high stress conditions and must exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining proper actions to take. Position requires patient care in a training or high-risk environment and operates within the guidelines provided by the Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services Director.

Position is on an as-needed basis, includes mandatory quarterly and annual training assignments, and requires members to be available for on-call rotations including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Members in this position must reside in the following counties: Pinellas, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, or Manatee.

The applicant must have a valid State of Florida Paramedic Certification and be a Pinellas County Certified Paramedic.

igh school graduation or equivalent diploma from an institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department Of Education (DOE) or licensed as a degree granting institution by the commission for Independent Education

Current Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course certification

Current Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) certification

Current Advanced Practice Paramedic (APP) certification, or attained within one (1) year

Completion of an approved forty (4) hour Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)/Tactical Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) course, or within two years of employment

Must maintain appropriate, unrestricted credentials according to the licensure, certification, and registration requirements of the jurisdiction

Requires that the member be at least 21 years of age

Must be able to meet all legal requirements of Florida State Statute 790.06, License to Carry Concealed Weapon or Firearm within six (6) months of employment

Member will be required to carry an agency issued handgun while on duty

Must be able to meet all legal requirements of Florida State Statute 790.25(a) within one year of employment

Completed an approved 80 hour Basic SWAT School, within one year of employment

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license

Paramedic

Colorado Mountain College

Full time faculty positions begin in January 2024 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. This year-round faculty position consists of a 37-credit instructional role within the paramedic program.

CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to be the primary lead instructor in the Paramedic Program. Teaching duties include all diadatic, skill lab, preclinical, and clinical rotation courses within the Paramedic curriculum. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health care agencies, as well as the local ski areas. Lead faculty in this discipline additionally facilitate recruiting, training, and scheduling of EMT Skills Assistant staff and Adjunct faculty, maintenance and purchasing of supplies, coordination of testing and state required documentation, assist in the collection of student records for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships in conjunction with the college-wide EMS Clinical Coordinator.

This faculty teaching position will work closely with campus leadership and report directly to a School Dean or designee to meet all accreditation and program standards. Faculty instruction includes proper documentation and adherence to standards for reporting to Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs(CAAHEP), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), and State of Colorado Dept of Public Health and environment (CDPHE). Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

Program instruction includes additional coordination, travel, and record management: Planning for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences, to include confirmation of written agreements between the administration of the program and outside providers of clinical resources. Providing for the safe keeping of a system of permanent records and reports essential to the operation of the program. Collection and assisting in coordination with clinical partners to meet needs for on-site direct supervision, this may include immunization, background check, fingerprints, and partnership orientation.

CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.

Salary range: $84,153.03 – $100,832.03 [Base salary: $74,591.59 – $90,852.49 depending upon education and experience.Mandatory additional 7 credits Lab instruction: $9,561.44 – $10,039.54.] Additional teaching opportunities may be available and are compensated at the adjunct faculty rates during contract overload review periods. Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

Paramedic Lead Instructors (as per CAAHEP) should have a minimum of an Associate’s degree, have appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience, be knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students, have field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care, have academic training and preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic, and be knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice. Bachelor’s Degree and 4,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years or Master’s degree preferred. Degree and previous teaching/training in directly related field preferred.

Nationally Registered EMT – Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT – Paramedic Certified required. AHA BLS Instructor preferred. Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus. Successful completion of an EMS Instructor Course with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration or National Association of EMS Educators (or completion of this course within the provisional period of the position) required.

Deputy Director

The position functions as second in command at ADCOM and assists the Executive Director to ensure achievement of the overall mission through supervision of the operational, technological, and administrative functions. It will serve as Acting Director in the Executive Director’s absence. The incumbent coordinates services with the agencies served by ADCOM. The incumbent reports to the Executive Director and exercises supervisory responsibilities over a Wireless Manager, Police and Fire Operations Managers, IT Manager, and the Support Services Manager.

Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director This work requires extensive knowledge and experience in PSAP operations to include knowledge of leading-edge technology such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), mobile data computers, E-911 systems, NG911 technology, dispatch equipment, and 700/800MHz radio systems. In addition, the selected candidate should be familiar with police and fire/EMS operations and procedures and have two years of experience in budget development and administration, human resource management, staffing resources allocation and scheduling, or training and recruitment of professional E-911 staff.

Facility Management and Maintenance to include but not limited to, ensuring facility is properly maintained and in good working order, preplanning the replacement of equipment and systems as needed, coordinating yearly maintenance contracts, scheduling planned maintenance, and maintaining contact information for emergency repairs.

Requires a flexible, motivated, senior-level, highly educated and skilled administrator who can adapt to a variety of changing situations and professionally complete a heavy, diverse workload.
